Expert network

Answer in brief

A service that connects researchers with paid interviews with industry specialists and former employees.

What it means

Expert networks match a client with people who know a market, company or product, then schedule short paid calls. Investors and consultants use them to test assumptions, learn how a sector works, and check competitor claims. Calls are usually recorded or summarized under the network's rules.

Compliance matters. Many experts cannot share confidential information from a former employer, and securities rules limit what a buyer may learn from certain calls. AI tools can transcribe and tag interviews quickly. They should not be used to extract protected information, and teams should keep a record of how each insight was sourced. Teams should decide in advance which topics are off limits for expert calls, and document that rule for the file. Keep the call notes in the same file as the claim they support, so a reviewer can see the source behind each point.
