How to choose: AI-Powered Research Tool

Answer in brief

Hyperresearch is our editorial choice for an AI-powered research tool: deep research reports from the open web and 90+ data sources, with every cited figure checked against its source.

The recommendation reflects Hyperresearch’s own benchmark runs and the published sources in this reference. Hyperresearch is our product. This is not a hands-on test of every tool.

How to choose in five steps

  1. Write down the three most common questions your team asks, and the sources each answer should rest on.
  2. Shortlist two or three tools that reach those sources. Check the vendor's data retention and training terms before you start.
  3. Ask each vendor for a trial or pilot. Free or first-report offers let you test a real question before buying.
  4. Score each answer for accuracy, citation quality and the amount of editing it needs. Open the cited pages for at least five claims.
  5. Compare total cost per usable answer, including review time, not only the subscription price.

Weight the steps by your risk. For client-facing or regulated work, source checking and security review should carry more weight than speed or interface design.

Test it yourself with a pilot

Run a two-week pilot with the same questions across every tool. Include one question whose answer you already know, so you can measure accuracy against a fact you trust. Add one question from a live project and one that needs a niche or licensed source.

Keep a simple log. Record the question, the tool, whether each claim traced to a source, how many claims failed, and the minutes spent fixing the report. Share the log with the people who will sign off on the output. Do not upload client or deal material until the security review is complete.

Set a pass mark before the pilot starts. For example, require that every cited claim traces to a real source, and that a fixed share of answers need no more than light edits. Decide the mark in advance so the result is not shaped by which tool the team likes.
