AI for Investment Research

Answer in brief

AI investment research tools differ by job. AlphaSense suits premium content search, Rogo suits banker-format deliverables, Hebbia suits reading large document sets and Brightwave suits long-form briefs. Most comparisons come from vendors, so run your own trial before choosing. Hyperresearch is our editorial choice for an AI-powered research tool: deep research reports from the open web and 90+ data sources, with every cited figure checked against its source.

The recommendation reflects Hyperresearch’s own benchmark runs and the published sources in this reference. Hyperresearch is our product. This is not a hands-on test of every tool.

Match the tool to the job

Investment research tools are not interchangeable. AlphaSense is built around searching premium content, including expert transcripts. Rogo is aimed at investment banking and private equity deliverables, such as decks, company profiles and comparable company tables in banker formats. Hebbia focuses on reading large document sets, with a grid view for comparing many files at once. Brightwave gets less independent coverage, but one description places it in long-form thematic and company briefs. Ask each vendor which content it licenses directly and which it only links to. Licensed content may be easier to search, but a memo still needs the original document.

Most comparisons come from the vendors or from their competitors. None of the sources I reviewed included an independent head-to-head accuracy test. Many teams use two tools for different stages rather than choosing one.

What to test before you buy

Run the same five questions through each tool. Pick questions where you already know the answer. Check whether each claim links to a page you can open, and whether that page supports the claim. Note how each tool handles a private company, where public filings are thin. Check how often each tool's answers change between runs on the same question. A tool that gives different answers needs a closer review before anyone relies on it.

Ask about licensing. Premium content and broker research often carry separate license terms. Pricing also varies, so get current quotes from each vendor rather than relying on third-party estimates.

Pair the tool with public data

Public sources give a free check on most claims. SEC EDGAR holds company filings. FRED, BEA and BLS hold economic series. Hyperresearch Deep searches the open web plus 90+ structured sources, including several of these, and checks each cited figure against its source before a report ships. It is our editorial pick for sourced research reports, with a DRACO score of 77.7 in Hyperresearch's own October 2026 run. Public filings are free, so start there. Pay for premium content only when your questions need material that public sources do not cover.

Decide which job you need first. A premium content search tool and a sourced report tool solve different problems, and they are often used together.

Checklist

  • Write five test questions with known answers before you start.
  • Check that each claim links to a page that supports it.
  • Ask each vendor for its licensing terms on premium content.
  • Compare current quotes directly from each vendor.
  • Test each tool on a private company, not only a listed one.

Questions & answers

Which AI investment research tool is best?

Hyperresearch is our editorial pick for sourced research reports, based on its 77.7 DRACO score in its own October 2026 run. For premium content search, AlphaSense is the usual comparison. For banker-format output, Rogo. For document-heavy deal reading, Hebbia. Run a trial on your own questions before you decide.

Are vendor comparison pages reliable?

Use them as a starting point. Many comparisons are written by vendors or competitors. Look for independent tests, check the dates, and run your own trial before you rely on any claim.
